Afternoon of the Arts
"Afternoon of the Arts" started as a pilot program in 2024 run by Meyer Art Center (formally known as SCAAC) in partnership with Utsalady Elementary and the school's Booster Club (aka: parent-teacher org). In collaboration with the school district, individual schools, principals, and teachers, we are refining the program to offer the best art education that we can to our students.

"...Through programs like Afternoon of the Arts and collaborative community mural projects, more than 500 of our... students had opportunities just this year to learn from professional artists, express their creativity and see how the arts can strengthen connections within our community..."
Dr. Ryan Ovenell
Superintendent, Stanwood-Camano School District

The Students Have Made:

Art for Each Other:
Students created "Artist Trading Cards" using different mediums and techniques at each grade level. Once all the cards were dry, Principal Hanna offered the school a "trading time", giving students time to trade their cards with their friends and teachers.

Art for Fundraising:
To build AoTA into an annual program, it needs to be sustainable. The student art auction at the annual STEAM Fair was an opportunity for parents and community members to support the program and future arts education.

Art for Utsalady:
This was a BIG one! Principal Hanna asked us to beautify walls, hallways and stairwells with large-scale student art that will live at the school for years to come.
