As a local artist, I believe it is important to support art education and give young students opportunities to explore their creativity. I enjoy volunteering with school art classes each year, sharing my experience and encouraging students to express their own ideas. Their creativity and enthusiasm always inspire me.

I have always had a talent for creating beauty through different arts. A self taught watercolorist, I began seriously painting with watercolor in 2016 after years of exploring various mediums. Watercolor is my love language. It fascinates me with the unpredictable dance of pigment and water while experiencing a chase with light across the paper, letting every stroke amaze me by telling its own wild story. I grew up on a farm in Oregon, one of five kids. I raised my three kids in Bend, Oregon, where I owned and operated an art sale company, creating and selling my art in wood, acrylics, and jewelry. I have also enjoyed working with wool felting, pebble art, resin art and more. I spent my career first as a sign language interpreter, then thirty years as a drug and alcohol specialist, working with individuals and family counseling. I retired in 2015. And thus began my love with watercolor! I moved to Skagit Valley in 2021 to be near my kids, ad I started teaching watercolor and participating in art shows. Enjoying the beauty of the outdoors in this wonderful area inspires my art.

After more than 40 years in the Minneapolis area, I moved back to the PNW in 2024, and have been delighted to join such a vibrant and welcoming arts scene. I have been playing around with glass for over 25 years, including stained glass, mosaics and fusing. Glass fusing, also known as “warm glass,” is extremely varied in style and technique and requires some patience while learning how glass responds to heat. There is a certain amount of trust when committing a piece into the kiln, but the results are usually awesome.
